Sheriff’s office investigating suspicious Spanish Springs deaths

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed with the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office that formal identifications and next of kin notifications have been completed on the deceased male and female from Sunday’s residential fire. The decedents are Pamela Grund, age 57, and Harry Grund, age 61.

Sheriff’s Detectives are investigating this as a Homicide, however, they do not believe there was another party involved. The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is advising that the public should not be fearful of an outstanding suspect as this investigation appears to be an isolated incident.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detectives Division is conducting the investigation relating to suspicious circumstances in the death of two adults, one male and one female, at a residence on the 9000 block of Spanish Trail Drive in Spanish Springs on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at approximately 6:03 p.m.

Initially, deputies responded to assist the Reno Fire Department with traffic control on a fully engulfed garage. Once Reno Firefighters extinguished the flames, bodies of a deceased male and female were discovered. It was at this time, Sheriff’s Detectives were called out to continue the investigation. The cause of death is still unknown. There was significant damage throughout the rest of the residence which was caused by the garage fire.

The deceased persons were transported to the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office. After a formal identification and notification of next of kin by the Medical Examiner’s Office, the Sheriff’s Office will release the identities of the male and female.
