Saint Mary’s Health Plans (SMHP) announced that Chuck Tomkinson has joined the organization in a new position as underwriting director. Tomkinson will work with the existing underwriting team in pricing all large and small group renewals and new business.
Tomkinson has more than 25 years experience in health care consultation, insurance eligibility, financial analysis, pricing and underwriting. Most recently, Tomkinson was employed at Health Net in Tempe, Ariz. where he served as vice president of financial operations and as a major account consultant. In this role, he was responsible for the individual, large group and small group underwriting teams, along with the actuarial department and financial reporting. Prior to Health Net, Tomkinson was employed at GIFNA Healthcare in various finance and underwriting roles and FHP Healthcare as an underwriting manager. Tomkinson has received recognition for his work by the Health Insurance Association of America and the Academy for Healthcare Management.
