SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to an initial report of a physical disturbance which was possibly related to a residential burglary. This was reported on Friday, September 16, 2011 at approximately 6:14 pm in the area of the 200 block of Costa Drive in the Sun Valley area. Prior to Deputies arrival, another report came in of a person down in the same area, apparently bleeding from the head.
At approximately 6:18pm, Deputies arrived and located a male subject on foot turning the corner from the residence. Deputies also located an adult female on the ground with significant injuries to her head. The female was transported to a local hospital for further examination and treatment. Deputies followed up with her at the hospital after she received medical care. The male did not show any signs of injury.
Deputies on scene determined the female and male had a verbal argument over property that ultimately turned physical. The male, identified as Larry Olson age 42, was the primary physical aggressor. Olson also took a phone away from the female as she attempted to call 911. Deputies located Olson approximately 80 yards away from the residence. This confirmed that Olson failed to provide any type of aid to the injured female.
Olson was arrested and transported to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility, where he was booked on a felony charge of Battery with Substantial Bodily Harm and Intercepting an Emergency Call (Gross Misdemeanor). Olson’s bail was set at $6,500.
