Sixth primary care office for growing physician group practice
On Tuesday, April 5, Saint Mary’s Medical Group (SMMG) will open its newest primary care location in north Reno. This will become the sixth practice location for Saint Mary’s Medical Group, which currently has offices in south Reno, downtown, northwest Reno, Spanish Springs and Galena. Located at 1180 Selmi Drive, near North McCarran Boulevard and Sutro, the new practice will offer greater convenience and flexibility for patients in the surrounding neighborhoods. Primary care services will be available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The new office will be home to primary care physician Dr. Douglas Vacek, DO. A medical graduate of Arizona State University, Dr. Vacek completed his residency at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, specializing in osteopathic medicine. Osteopathic medicine focuses on disease prevention and health maintenance. Doctors of osteopathy treat the body as an integrated whole instead of treating specific symptoms and illnesses. In 2009, Dr. Vacek moved to Nevada, where he began his career as a primary-care physician serving communities throughout rural Nevada. Additionally, Dr. Vacek is board certified in Family Medicine by the American Academy of Family Physicians.
“Saint Mary’s Medical Group is expanding its services to additional communities in the Reno-Sparks area,” said Donald Farrimond, MD, medical director of Saint Mary’s Medical Group. “An office in north Reno is an excellent choice for the neighborhood, as there are fewer physician offices than other parts of Reno, and we are pleased to have a highly-skilled practitioner such as Dr. Vacek join our team.”
Dr. Vacek and his staff will begin seeing patients at the new location Tuesday, April 5. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 770-SMMG (7664) or visit www.saintmarysmedicalgroup.com.
