Saint Mary’s Medical Group welcomes primary care physician Dr. Kristin Laxalt to its south Reno location. The primary and urgent care office is located at 8040 S. Virginia Street, Suite 4. “We are excited to welcome Dr. Laxalt to the team of highly-skilled practitioners at our south Reno location,” said Donald Farrimond, MD, medical director of Saint Mary’s Medical Group. “The new addition will allow more patients to access primary care services in their neighborhood.”
A board-certified family medicine physician, Laxalt is a graduate from the University of Nevada, School of Medicine. Laxalt is also a member of the Nevada Academy of Family Physicians, Nevada State Medical Association and Washoe County Medical Society.
Primary care physicians diagnose and treat common health problems, coordinate medical care for patients, manage medications, promote healthy lifestyles and focus on disease prevention. An urgent care center is a convenient and cost-effective way to treat unexpected health problems outside of a primary care doctor’s office hours. Urgent care symptoms include moderate fever; colds, cough or flu; minor burns; eye, ear and skin infections; respiratory infections; bruises, abrasions and minor cuts; and minor accidents that are not life-threatening.
In addition to the newly expanded primary and urgent care location, SMMG has a new retail clinic located inside the Kietzke Lane Walmart. The retail clinic treats common health ailments and offers routine medical services. These include but are not limited to routine physical examinations, immunizations, acute bronchitis/cough, allergic conditions, minor medical conditions and injuries.
Saint Mary’s Medical Group offers same day appointments at all of its locations. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 770-SMMG (7664) or visit www.saintmarysmedicalgroup.com.
