COLON CANCER AWARENESS MONTH – GET YOUR AT-HOME KIT TODAY

Community WellCheck – March 9 and 24

Saint Mary’s monthly Community WellCheck offers a wide variety of affordable health screenings and immunizations to help identify potential health risks.  All screenings are held from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Center for Health, at 645 N. Arlington, 3rd floor.  To schedule an appointment call 770-7100.

Vascular Screening – March 16

Heart attack and stroke, caused by a build-up of fatty plaque in the walls of arteries, are leading causes of death and disability in northern Nevada.  Risk factors for vascular disease include diabetes, smoking, high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol, family history and age.  Lower your risk for vascular disease by getting screened on Wednesday, March 16.  Call 770-7600 for location and to schedule your appointment.

Diabetes Testing Screening – March 18

Saint Mary’s now offers convenient monthly testing for diabetes.  Our $60 testing package includes blood pressure, hemoglobin A1c, lipid levels, Microalbumin, eGFR, serum creatinine, body mass index and foot care screening.  Additionally, the screening offers scheduling support for diabetic retinal eye exams and diabetes education with a nurse and/or a registered dietitian.  The next screening will be held on Friday, March 18 at 645 N Arlington Ave., Suite 660.  To make an appointment call 770-7100.

Hands-on Grocery Store Tour only $10 – March 23

Saint Mary’s team of registered dietitians is offering a hands-on Grocery Store Tour on Wednesday, March 23 from noon to 1 p.m. at Scolari’s at 4788 Caughlin Parkway in Reno. Tours will provide participants with budget wise shopping tips that can be used to purchase healthy, nutritional foods.  The cost of the tour is only $10.  To register, call 770-7100.

FREE Chronic Disease Management Class Series – Begins April 19

If you are 55 or older and have arthritis, heart or lung problems, high blood pressure, cancer or other chronic conditions, our free six-week class is for you.  During the program, you will learn how to manage your chronic disease through exercise techniques, community resources, setting goals, and knowledge on how to optimize your relationship with your physician.  Classes will take place every Tuesday beginning on April 19 through May 24 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at Access to Healthcare Network at 4001 S. Virginia Street, Suite F in Reno (located in Reno Town Mall).  For more information and to register, call 770-7100.

Breathe Easy Tobacco Cessation Program starts April 20

If you are interested in quitting smoking, Saint Mary’s Breathe Easy Tobacco Cessation program is for you.  Beginning on Wednesday April 20 and ending on May 18, a licensed tobacco specialist will provide participants with the tools they need to quit smoking.   Classes are held every Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Saint Mary’s Health Enhancement at 1625 East Prater Way in Sparks.   For more information or to register, call 770-7100.
