Sen. Harry Reid today celebrated one of four Truckee River restoration projects that he secured funding for through the Bureau of Reclamation.
The restoration projects near the Derby Dam are a result of a partnership between the city of Reno, the city of Sparks and the Nature Conservancy. Reid secured $9.56 million for a total of four Truckee restoration projects.
“The Truckee River is one of the most precious resources of water and wildlife that we have in northern Nevada. This is why I fought for the funding to support projects like this one that help keep the river clean,” said Reid. “I thank the leadership of the cities of Sparks and Reno, as well as the Nature Conservancy and the Bureau of Reclamation, for their collective work to improve the environmental conditions and maintain the beauty of the Truckee River for decades to come.”
