The University of Nevada School of Medicine’s free Student Outreach Clinics for November have been announced for the following dates: a children’s clinic will be held November 6 from 8 a.m. to noon., a women’s clinic will be held November 13 from 8 a.m. to noon and a general clinic will be on November 22 from 6 to 9 p.m.
In addition this month, a geriatric clinic, for those 55 and older, will be held November 20 from 8 a.m. to noon.
Student Outreach Clinics are a free service providing much needed care for Washoe County’s medically uninsured population. Clinics offer physicals for work or school, EKGs, blood pressure monitoring, referrals and selected lab services at discounted fees. Women’s clinics offer pregnancy testing, Pap smears, gynecological exams, breast exams, STD testing and mammogram referrals. Children’s clinics offer school and sports physicals, immunizations and general care.
The clinic for older adults will focus on geriatric-specific services including cognitive impairment screening, physicals, medication review, immunizations, blood glucose and blood pressure monitoring, cholesterol checks, X-rays, and EKGs.
A flat $5 fee covers all labs needed for your visit.
Under the direct supervision of licensed faculty and community physicians, medical students from the University of Nevada School of Medicine offer monthly Student Outreach Clinics which provide free care. No appointment is necessary for clinic patients who are seen on a first come, first served basis. Early arrival is recommended. Spanish translators are available as needed.
Clinics are held at University Health System’s Family Medicine Center, located on the University of Nevada, Reno campus just north of Mackay Stadium off of North Virginia Street. Take RTC bus route 7 to North Virginia Street or the free Sierra Spirit bus.
