Saint Mary’s celebrates heart month with a heart disease prevention class

RENO, Nev. — As the region’s leader in heart technology and wellness, Saint Mary’s is celebrating heart disease awareness month, February, with two free heart health classes, An Ounce of Prevention – Lowering your risk of developing heart disease. Cardiologist Dr. Letitia L. Anderson, of Reno Heart Physicians, will teach participants not only the symptoms of a heart attack and stroke, but also what simple steps you can start today to decrease your risk. Join Dr. Anderson on Thursday, Feb. 11 at noon – 1 p.m. or Thursday, Feb. 18 at 7 – 8 p.m. at Saint Mary’s Center for Health auditorium, 645 N. Arlington Ave., third floor for this free open to the public class.

Dr. Anderson is a University of Vermont medical school graduate who completed her internal medicine residency at Brown University in Providence, RI.  She is also board certified in internal medicine and completed her cardiology fellowship at the University of Vermont. She specializes in nuclear cardiology.

Saint Mary’s is the only hospital in the region with a chest pain center accredited by the Society of Chest Pain Centers.  Saint Mary’s chest pain center provides optimal care to patients experiencing chest pain and other cardiac symptoms. The center also collaborates with REMSA to ensure patients suffering from heart attacks have the best chance of survival by utilizing a fast-track system the moment they arrive at the hospital.
