Miracle Treat Day set for Aug. 11

Date:

SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

This year's CMNH Champion Children, Katy and Paige DuPriest, will be serving blizzards at the Reno DQ, 10390 North McCarran Blvd., from 7 – 8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 11. The Champions represents countless other children who have faced severe medical challenges and received care and treatment at hospitals throughout the country.

This Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, communities throughout the United States and Canada will make miracles for children during the sixth annual Miracle Treat Day. Throughout the day, $1 or more from every Blizzard treat sold at participating Dairy Queen (DQ) restaurants will be donated in support of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital at Renown (CMNH).

Since 1984 DQ has raised $86 million dollars to help save and improve the lives of children. Last year on Miracle Treat Day, DQ locations across the United States and Canada raised nearly $5 million for 170 CMNH. All money raised at local DQ restaurants will stay in the Truckee Meadows community to help fund state-of-the-art equipment and provide support for pediatric services and education programs at Renown Children’s Hospital.

“Dairy Queen has been a tremendous supporter of CMNH,” said Kiemmy Boc, Renown Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals coordinator. “The Dairy Queen restaurants in northern Nevada have helped raise money through collecting change, selling paper miracle balloons and holding special events like Miracle Treat Day. Their efforts make a genuine difference to the lives of the kids at Renown Children’s Hospital.”

Participating DQ restaurants in the region include:

  • 1501 Prater Way, Sparks
  • 10390 North McCarran Blvd., Reno
  • 3198 Us Hwy 50 E, Carson City
  • 1750 Us Hwy 395, Minden
  • 5645 Meadowood Circle, Reno

The mission of CMNH is to generate funds and awareness programs for the benefit of children served by its associated hospitals, such as Renown Children’s Hospital. In northern Nevada, Renown Children’s Hospital is the only hospital associated with CMNH. CMNH at Renown supports important programs to keep children healthy and, for those sick or injured, ensures the best quality medical care possible.
