SPARKS — Looking for a sport to combine exercise, fresh air, good times and friendship? Check out the City of Sparks adult summer softball program. Gather friends, family members, neighbors or co-workers ages 18 and older and enter a team. There are leagues available for men, women, coed, and seniors for all levels of players. Team registration is open through June 9, 2018.
Registered softball teams play one night per week July 9 – September 28, for the 10 game season. Games are scheduled between 6:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. at the Golden Eagle Regional Park and Shadow Mountain sports complexes.
The registration fee is $575 per softball team. This amounts to just $5.75 per player per game (10 person team)! The cost for senior teams is $400 for men’s 50+, 60+, 65+, 70+, 75+, and women’s 50+ leagues. A late fee of $35 is applied to registrations received after June 9, pending space availability.
Registration for the summer softball program is held at the Alf Sorensen Community Center, 1400 Baring Blvd. in Sparks. Office hours are Monday/Wednesday, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday/ Thursday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. The center is closed on Friday and Sunday.
