Reno Air Racing Foundation sponsors EAA Air Race Chapter 1361 Young Eagles First Flight Day

RENO AIR RACING FOUNDATION NEWS RELEASE

The Reno Air Racing Foundation gives young northern Nevadans the opportunity to learn more about aviation through hands-on learning activities during a day-long flight camp. The Experimental Aircraft Association Air Race Chapter 1361 Young Eagles First Flight Day offers the region’s youth an experience of a lifetime as they participate in demonstrations, tours and other exciting flight-related activities.

The event begins with a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m. on Saturday, June 30. The EAA Young Eagles First Flight Day is held in conjunction with the Experimental Aircraft Association Air Race Chapter 1361 and sponsored by the Reno Air Racing Foundation.

“This program allows us to give young aviation enthusiasts the opportunity to learn more about the world of flight,” said Gary MacDonald, Reno Air Racing Foundation chairman. “We are glad to be a part of an initiative that inspires passion and excitement for aviation and its related careers.”

EAA First Flight Day will provide attendees with opportunities including simulated space missions at the Challenger Learning Center, displays hosted by Civil Air Patrol, Care Flight, Washoe County Sheriff, Nevada Air National Guard, Army National Guard and the Reno-Stead Airport. Additionally, the Reno 99’s will be on-hand to offer ground school.

The program is open to children of all ages and is from 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 30. All participants must be accompanied by an adult. Additionally, attendees who wish to fly must be 7-18 years of age.
