Peppermill’s White Orchid Wine Series Continues with Nickel & Nickel Wines

(Reno, NV) – Monday, January 16, Peppermill’s beautiful White Orchid will open its doors to the public for a special gourmet indulgence featuring Nickel & Nickel wines.

Chef de Cuisine Roger Morris, Pastry Chef Steven Krizman and Executive Chef Don Hamilton have carefully crafted an 8-course pairings dinner to complement each winery…from the subtle tropical notes of the 2009 Truchard Vineyard Chardonnay to the cherry and blackberry of the 2008 Kelham Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon.

The menu reflects true foodie obsessions with perfect pairing selections. Kumamoto Oysters with strawberry mignonette paired with the lemon and pear of the 2009 Turchard Vineyard Chardonnay; New Zealand elk tenderloin tartare with winter greens and crostini served with the raspberry and sage of the 2007 Harris Vineyard Merlot;  butter-poached Chilean sea bass with wilted greens, Hobb’s bacon and seared duck Foie Gras complemented by the plum and sage of the En Route “Les Pommiers” Pinot Noir;  red wine-braised veal cheek with puree of Yukon gold potatoes, Portobello mushroom, shaved carrots and parsnips accompanied by the berry, spice and smoke flavors of the 2008 Darien Vineyard Syrah. The 2008 John C. Sullenger Vineyard and Kelham Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons will accompany a pan-roasted Snake River Farms Wagyu beef filet mignon with braised Wagyu short rib, roasted onion, tomato and goat cheese tart. For dessert, apricot gelato with warm brioche pain perdu with Vermont maple syrup is served with the liquid gold of the Far Niente “Dolce” Late Harvest wine. Mignardise and freshly brewed coffee will finish the evening.

Reception begins at 6:30 pm, dinner served at 7 pm. Reservations will be taken on a first come, first served basis, with seating limited to 65 persons.
