CARSON CITY — Governor Jim Gibbons has named Matt Maddox to the Nevada Economic Forum. Mr. Maddox is the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for Wynn Resorts. He has worked for Wynn Resorts since 2002 in both Las Vegas and Macau, China. Prior to Wynn Resorts, Mr. Maddox worked for Bank of America as well as Caesars Entertainment. Mr. Maddox has a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Southern Methodist University.

“I believe Mr. Maddox has valuable experience in finance and the gaming industry that will assist the Economic Forum as they forecast future economic conditions during these turbulent times,” Governor Gibbons said.

“I am proud that Governor Gibbons has chosen me for this important position,” Mr. Maddox said, “I look forward to working with the other members of the Economic Forum to assist the State of Nevada.”

The five-member Economic Forum, established by the Nevada Legislature in 1993, generally meets just prior to the convening of Nevada’s biennial Legislature to provide a revenue forecast for use in adopting state government budgets. The Forum meets again approximately 30 days prior to the adjournment of the biennial session to review and, if necessary, revise its forecast. NRS 353.228(2) provides that “the Economic Forum may make preliminary projections of economic indicators and estimates of future state revenue at any time.”

Present members of the Economic Forum include Michael Alastuey, William Hartman, John Restrepo, and Linda Rosenthal. The terms of all members expire on January 31, 2010.
