The Davis Fire has burned 5,824 acres and is now 76% contained. As containment increases, crews are removing equipment from secured areas and undergoing suppression efforts to support forest regrowth.

Weather forecasts predict cooler temperatures averaging 76 degrees, with winds up to 30 mph and gusts reaching 40 mph. These conditions pose safety risks for firefighters working near trees. Smoldering fire behavior and possible ignition of light fuels are expected today.

Rain is possible Sunday evening and more likely Monday, accompanied by a significant temperature drop and moderate gusts.

Evacuation zones continue to shrink. Residents can check evacuation statuses at https://perimetermap.com. For residents who need to discard spoiled food items and other waste, Waste Management is providing a dumpster at the Truckee Meadows Fire Station at 4000 Joy Lake Road and one dumpster at US-395 and Eastlake Boulevard.

Fire crews are not seeking additional donations.

The fire’s cause remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the Sept. 8 incident at Davis Creek Regional Park should contact 775-326-6079 or email [email protected].
