$50,000 awarded to seven organizations nationally

Dermody Properties, a national private equity real estate investment, development and management company focused exclusively on the logistics real estate sector, has announced the recipients of its annual Dermody Properties Thanksgiving Capstone Award. The Food Bank of Northern Nevada (FBNN) will receive $25,000 to support several programs including its Mobile Harvest program, which helps children and families, specifically, to obtain fresh fruits and vegetables and other perishable items.

FBNN is a nonprofit organization and a member of Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, focused on providing emergency food services to families throughout northern Nevada and the eastern slope of the sierra in California. The Mobile Harvest program provided more than 2.5 million pounds of fresh foods last year.

Every year, senior management at Dermody Properties selects the recipients for the annual Thanksgiving Capstone Award with the overall goal of helping nonprofit organizations address the increased need experienced during the holidays. This year, Michael Dermody, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Dermody Properties has specifically designated FBNN as a recipient.

According to FBNN, one in every four children in Nevada does not know where their next meal is coming from. The organization helps more than 107,000 people each month.

“Every year, the Thanksgiving Capstone Award allows our company to help organizations who are truly making a difference in the lives of people in need,” said Dermody. “We are pleased to continue our support of the Food Bank of Northern Nevada and recognize its efforts to fight hunger and food insecurity within our most vulnerable populations.”

The Dermody Properties Annual Thanksgiving Capstone Award is uniquely directed each year by the executive management committee of Dermody Properties, which includes Chairman and CEO Michael Dermody; President Douglas A. Kiersey, Jr.; Partner and Chief Capital Officer Kathleen Briscoe; Chief Operating Officer Elizabeth Kauchak; Chief Financial Officer Douglas Lanning; and Partner and Chief Investment Officer Timothy Walsh.

Dermody Properties has selected six additional recipient organizations and will award $5,000 each to Feeding America of Riverside & San Bernardino in Riverside, Calif., St. Mary’s Food Bank in Phoenix, Ariz., Saint Alphonsus Liguori Food Pantry in Prospect Heights, Ill. and Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada in Reno, Nev.; and $2,500 each to the North Texas Food Bank in Plano, TX and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Texas in Austin, TX.
