The City of Reno celebrated the completion of the Reno Arch Refresh Project with a 1980’s party under the iconic Reno Arch Monday, June 25.

The current arch was debuted across Virginia Street in downtown Reno in 1987, hence the 1980’s costumes and music that blared from the balcony of the adjacent Whitney Peak Hotel. .

Mayor Hillary Schieve and members of the city council tossed glow sticks from the Whitney Peak balcony to the waiting crowd of locals and visitors stationed below. As the evening had grown darker, a countdown was given and the refreshed Reno arch was illuminated.

The crowd then gathered under the arch for a group photo by the City of Reno and to watch the fireworks show hosted by the Eldorado Hotel and Casino across the street.
