VIDEOS: Flooding Expected to Reach Similar Levels as Last Month

Date:

The Truckee River will peak tonight at levels near what was seen during last month’s flooding. Flood waters entered walking paths earlier today in Sparks and downtown tonight. Many areas in the North Valleys were also flooding today.

No emergency services were on site, but city officials said that they are prepared and on alert.

“Residents in flood-prone areas should be on high alert,” City of Reno officials said in a media statement. “The highest risk of flooding is in urban areas and along creeks, streams and poor-drainage areas.”

Sandbags are available at these sites (bring your own shovels):

  • Old Moana Swimming Pool location at 240 W. Moana Ln. – Open 24 hours
  • The Nevada Peace Officers Memorial at Idlewild Park at 2055 Idlewild Dr. – Open 24 hours
  • Public Works Corporation Yard at 1640 E. Commercial Row. – Open MondayFriday from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Watch a video of below flooding at Wingfield park tonight at around 7 p.m. The video above is from Fisherman’s Park in Sparks this afternoon.
