Vintage Housing and Greenstreet Companies held a ground-breaking ceremony Monday for Vintage at The Crossings, the first large-scale affordable housing project to break ground in 10 years.

Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve, councilmember Naomi Duerr, Nevada Housing Division representative C.J. Manthe and City of Reno Community Housing Senior Planner Desmond Craig helped commemorate the event.

“We are thrilled to have such overwhelming support from the city and state to help us bring badly needed high-quality affordable senior living to Reno again,” said Dane Hillyard, principal at Greenstreet Companies.

“It takes a focused collaborative effort to successfully get an affordable project like this approved, financed and built,” Jim Zaccheo, principal at Greenstreet Companies said.

Vintage at The Crossings is underway thanks to the support of the City of Reno, Washoe County HOMEConsortium and the State of Nevada.

“The Washoe County HOME Consortium is committed to working in the Truckee Meadows region to expand and improve the supply of affordable housing,” said Craig. “Vintage at The Crossings is a great example of what our community needs – innovative thinking, a sense of urgency, and extensive collaboration between multiple agencies, public and private, resulting in projects that meet the housing needs of the under-served in our community. We are delighted to be part of this process.”

The 230-unit senior apartment complex, slated to open next summer, will provide a state-of-the-art, energy efficient, high-quality lifestyle for fixed-income seniors.

“We are excited and grateful that this project is coming to Reno at a time when our senior citizens truly need it,” said Duerr, councilmember for Ward 2. “We have heard from our residents about the need for more affordable housing. At the City of Reno, we are dedicated to being creative and finding solutions to bringing more affordable housing to Reno.”

From the floor plans and community facilities to the outdoor spaces and on-site services, the development will provide a high-quality lifestyle for lower-income seniors.

Vintage at The Crossings is conveniently located at 11565 Old Virginia Road next to the South Towne Crossing shopping center.
