Last week, staff and students of Washoe County and Glenn Duncan Elementary displayed a new community garden at Glenn Duncan Elementary.

To support its community projects, Washoe County has been a Partner in Education with Glenn Duncan Elementary since 2013. This garden is just one of four community projects approved and Washoe County’s Community Special Project program’s staff has awarded $60,000 in funds to support Glenn Duncan Elementary. Students, volunteers, and teachers will work in the garden, building garden beds, boxes, a greenhouse, fencing, and shade structures.

“Washoe County values the opportunity to partner with schools in the community and invest in the next generation and the garden at Glenn Duncan proves great collaboration with the right people works well for all involved,” Washoe County Commission Chair Kitty Jung said. “This garden will not only be a tremendous place for children and staff to learn, but it will be a resource for the community, providing nutritious foods for families in the area.”
