There’s a new crosswalk at California and Nixon avenues thanks to local first grader, Quinn Rogers.

Rogers wrote a letter to the City noting a public safety issue in the area.

“People like riding their bikes and walking across the street there, but there are so many cars that make it dangerous to cross,” she wrote to Councilwoman Jenny Brekhus, who agreed and helped to get the new crosswalk installed.

“Quinn and her parents will join Ward 1 Reno City Councilmember Jenny Brekhus to help dedicate the crosswalk with a ceremonial ribbon cutting and crossing on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 8:15 a.m,” the City announced in a statement.

Quinn wrote that she “frequently takes that route to get around her neighborhood and wrote a note to (Brekhus).”
