The Nevada Women’s Fund (NWF) has contributed $291,117 in community grants and individual scholarships in the past year. This money has gone to 13 area non-profit organizations and 64 Northern Nevadan women.
“The NWF continues to increase its community giving year over year with nearly $300,000 in funding for 2015-16 programs,” said NWF board president, Debby Herman. “Our mission to empower families through funding that strengthens programs where we know our giving makes significant impacts has reached an all-time high and we keep reaching for the sky.”
“Funding from the Nevada Women’s Fund will make it possible to sustain our Learn to Earn financial literacy program for young women who have aged out of foster care,” said Joseph Galata, executive director of the Sierra Association of Foster Families. “Financial literacy is important to the physical and mental well-being of this high-risk population.”
