One man dead in South Reno construction accident

cityofreno-3363158-1994568Shortly before 9 a.m. on January 14, Reno Police Dispatch received a call from the driver of a construction vehicle that had reportedly run over a construction worker in the 9000 Block of Abigail Way in South Reno.

Reno Police, Reno Fire, and REMSA medics responded to the scene and located an unidentified male with injuries consistent with being run over by a construction vehicle. Due to the severity of his injuries the man was pronounced deceased at the scene. The man’s identity will not be released until notification of next of kin.

It was determined on scene that the accident was categorized as an industrial accident due to it being a controlled construction area with no public access.

Due to these facts, the Office of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) were contacted and will be the primary investigating agency in this accident.
