DISCOVERY MUSEUM NEWS RELEASE – On Wednesday, September 4, The Discovery partners with Virginia City’s International Camel Races to present Hump Day at The Discovery. This inaugural event gives museum visitors the opportunity to come face-to-face with livestock from the Camel Races and learn more about the famed Virginia City event.
In addition to a camel, a zebra and a pair of ostriches, Virginia City’s Living Legend docents also visit The Discovery. These characters in period costumes invite museum visitors to relive the old west. Visitors also have the opportunity to participate in a camel scavenger hunt throughout the museum for a chance to win tickets to this year’s races.
“Hump Day is going to be a very unique and fun day,” said Patrick Turner, Marketing Manager. “Partnering with local special events is a great way to extend the museum experience.”
The Discovery will be open 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4. Hump Day festivities are 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The 54th Annual International Camel Races in Virginia City are September 6-8. Join the Discovery Kids and Camel Parade Sunday, September 8 at 10:30 a.m. in historic Virginia City and kick off the last day of the 54th annual International Camel Races.
The Discovery is located at 490 S. Center Street in downtown Reno.
