RENO, Nev. – University of Nevada golfer Ryan Mulvany has been named an All-American Scholar by Cleveland Golf/Srixon, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced.
Mulvany was one of just four golfers from the Mountain West Conference to earn the honor. Across the nation, only 248 golfers across all levels – NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA – earned the distinction.
Mulvany is coming off a junior season in which he led Nevada with a stroke average of 72.93. He recorded six top-20 finishes, including a career-best tie for third at the Pacific Invitational.
“Ryan is the epitome of a student-athlete,” Nevada coach Jacob Wilner said. “He excels on the course, in the classroom and he is a great leader to his teammates.”
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team’s competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 77.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
