cityofreno-189x300-2965100-3349507CITY OF RENO — The City of Reno will celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 9 a.m. with a tree planting event. The Reno Urban Forestry Commission along with volunteers from the Great Basin Youth Soccer League will plant 15 trees at the Moana Springs Recreation Complex, located at 240 West Moana Lane.

The City of Reno will be presented the Tree City USA Award by the Nevada Division of Forestry. This will be the City’s 31st consecutive award of Tree City USA status, which is the longest duration of any city in the State of Nevada retaining this status. The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation and recognizes cities across the country for their commitment to an active urban forestry program.

The trees will be planted along Moana Lane and one of the flat fields to provide shade for spectators. In addition, the Moana Nursery donated 78 shrubs which were planted along Moana Lane. Together, the trees and shrubs will add an attractive landscaping improvement to the complex.

The public and media are invited to attend this event. For more information, please call (775) 334-2270 or visit Reno.gov.
