MOANA NURSERY NEWS RELEASE
Members of the Orchid Society of Northern Nevada (OSNN) will be exhibiting some of their rare plants at an orchid show in Moana Nursery’s Moana Lane Garden Center and will be available to answer questions about orchids and the society throughout the show. Friday, Feb 8: Noon — 5 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 9: 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Sunday, Feb.10: 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
An intriguing selection of several varieties of unusual orchids, including funky masdevallias, dendrobiums, oncidiums, phaleonopsis, lady slippers and cattleyas – plus orchid supplies — will be available for purchase. Ten percent of the orchid purchases made during the show will be donated by Moana Nursery to the OSNN.
Seminars
Feb. 9 at 10 a.m.: Orchids 101 – Landscape and Design Center
Sean Abbott, PhD and past president of the Orchid Society of Northern Nevada, will show you how easy it is to have gorgeous blooming orchids. With a few simple tips, you will be able to grow orchids that bloom for months! The hardest thing about orchids is choosing a color! You don’t want to miss this ever-popular seminar.
Feb. 9 at 1 p.m.: The Art of Repotting Orchids – Landscape and Design Center
Joanne Gerow, American Orchid Society (AOS) representative for the Orchid Society of Northern Nevada and AOS student judge, will demonstrate the proper way to repot orchids and share tips for successful transplanting.
