Reno, NV (January 4, 2012)–The Nevada Museum of Art is excited to announce the continuation of Second Saturdays, providing free admission to all visitors on the second Saturday of each month in 2012, thanks to generous sponsorship by the Nightingale Family Foundation. In addition to free admission, guests can also enjoy free family programming from 10 am – 4pm as the popular hands/ON! family program moves to Second Saturdays, featuring drop-in hands-on art projects, docent-led gallery activities, storytelling, and performances in the theater.

“The Museum’s intention in combining hands/ON! with Second Saturdays is to not only provide free admission but also free programming to a diverse audience,” commented David B. Walker, Executive Director | CEO, Nevada Museum of Art. “Our goal is to continue to engage families and develop life-long relationships with those that take part.”

Designed to increase the Museum’s outreach to families throughout the Reno-Tahoe community, free admission to the Museum on Second Saturdays provides residents and visitors of the Northern Nevada region an opportunity to increase their cultural awareness and exposure to the arts, while hands/ON! offers families a fun and interactive way to engage with each other.
