WASHINGTON, D.C.–Sen. Harry Reid today was presented with a Distinguished Leadership Award during a meeting with representatives from the National Bar Association’s Health Law section for his instrumental role in the passage of the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010.
In attendance were Health Law members Denise E. Hanna, Tanya Clay House and J. Robert Butler. The National Bar Association is the oldest and largest association of African-American lawyers and judges.
“I am honored to accept the Distinguished Leadership Award from such a prestigious organization, one that shares my commitment to uphold individual rights and social justice,” said Reid. “It is with a great deal of gratitude that I thank the National Bar Association’s ongoing support for reform legislation that provides access to health care to nearly every American and expands tuition support for students seeking a college education.”
