Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center, northern Nevada’s number one ranked hospital in patient quality, is also the area’s most recommended hospital to friends and family according to Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS).
The most recent data showed that 73 percent of Saint Mary’s patients would recommend the hospital to friends and family members. HCAHPS is a national, standardized survey of hospital patients who had a recent hospital stay and was created to publicly report the patient’s perspective of hospital care.
“The greatest compliment that we as a hospital can ever receive is a recommendation to a family member or friend,” said Mike Uboldi, president and CEO of Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center, “This most recent survey of our patients’ hospital experience is just another indication of the exceptional quality that our patients can expect from Saint Mary’s.”
Since 2006, Saint Mary’s has consistently ranked first in the region, according to HealthInsight, while improving overall performance each quarter, something no other hospital in the region can claim. In its latest publicly reported data, HealthInsight has ranked Saint Mary’s as the top hospital in northern Nevada for performance in 25 quality measurements established by the federal government.
HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) is a national, standardized survey of hospital patients. HCAHPS (pronounced “H-caps”) was created to publicly report the patient’s perspective of hospital care. The survey asks a random sample of recently discharged patients about important aspects of their hospital experience.
HCAHPS was developed by a partnership of public and private organizations. Development of the survey was funded by the Federal government, specifically the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).
