The Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development has approved more than $66 million in tax abatements for five companies. The businesses are projected to create 152 jobs in the next two years, with an average hourly wage of $29.72. The number of jobs is expected to increase to 298 within five years, state officials said.

Over the 10-year abatement period, the companies will invest $1 billion in capital equipment and generate $308 million in new tax revenues.

Governor Joe Lombardo said, “Nevada remains dedicated to creating opportunities for business to thrive, and today’s approval is a testament to our proactive approach in attracting and retaining companies.”

The approved companies are in Washoe and Clark counties. Apple is expanding its data center operations in Washoe County. It will receive $62 million in abatements and create 10 jobs. Weber Metals is expanding its Verdi facility and will receive $2.3 million in abatements, creating 27 jobs.

The Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance and the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada helped facilitate the abatements.
