The Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County announced that Center and Mary streets will be closed at Virginia Street starting tomorrow, Monday.
“RTC will close Center Street at Virginia Street. Drivers can also expect intermittent closures on Mary Street at Virginia Street,” said RTC spokesperson Michael Moreno. “These closures will be in place so crews can begin construction on the roundabout at this intersection. Crews will sequence this work by completing underground utility improvements on Mary Street first, then concrete sidewalks.
“The roundabout will be constructed in two sections (east then west) to maintain southbound traffic on Virginia Street. During construction, drivers can expect closures and detours on Mary Street and Center Street. The entire construction of the roundabout will take approximately six months.”
Midtown businesses continue to be open during construction.
