Battle Born Beer celebrates its grand opening to the public this Nevada Day, Oct. 25, from 3:30 to 9:30 p.m. The brewery will host live music, food trucks and drinks at their new location on 360 East 5th St. behind The Depot Craft Brewery and Distillery.

“After years of work, the timing of the launch on Nevada Day is perfect and allows the whole community to party and celebrate our great state with our namesake beer,” said CEO and Founder of Battle Born Beer Jeff Pickett.

The idea behind Battle Born Beer started in 2011 when Pickett said he was inspired to make an easy drinking lager, while at the time, many craft breweries were diligently finessing hoppy and bitter India pale ale-style brews. Pickett eventually teamed up with The Depot’s owner and brewmaster Brandon Wright to create their own unique taste.

“Drinkability is the name of the game,” Wright said in reference to the tastes that inspired Battle Born Beer. “The local craft beer segment hasn’t had an option that’s centered around drinkability so you can quench your thirst on a hot day.”

Fast forward to today, the new brewery has a starting capacity of 5,000 barrels or 69,000 cases a year. Their beers are available at over 80 locations throughout Northern Nevada including Maverick, Raley’s and Total Wine.

The opening debut will feature a block party celebration, a ‘blue carpet’ walkway in the spirit of Nevada Day and discounted beers. For Pickett, the opening day has been a long time coming.

“It almost feels like your wedding day — you’re in this daze,” he said. “But once I see everyone enjoying and connecting with the brand as we envisioned it, that’ll be the happiest day of my life.”
