First and Lake Streets to Close for Construction

Downtown road construction will have First and Lake streets closed for nearly a month. Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, Lake street will be closed from the Truckee River bridge to Second Street, RTC announced last week.

First Street will be closed from Center to Lake streets. Construction is expected to be completed September 30, 2019.

“Businesses within the closure will be provided southbound access at 2^nd Street to westbound at First Street,” RTC said in a statement. “Drivers will be able to access the Cal Neva parking garage using Second Street to Lover’s Lane Alley.”

The project is part of a larger effort to reconstruct and rehability roads that have been marked for improvement or maintenance. Pavement and sidewalks will get upgraded as part of the project.
