Care for your heart and the hearts you love
Every month is a good month to take care of your heart. But in February, for Valentine’s Day and in celebration of American Heart Month, REMSA is making it easier and more fun to Save the Heart You Love. There’s no better way to show your love to friends, family and significant others than by being prepared to care for their hearts—and yours! REMSA reminds northern Nevadans to refresh their CPR skills and make healthy lifestyle choices in support of better heart health.
There are easy ways to care for your heart and the hearts of those you love:
Start by making positive lifestyle choices. The American Heart Association recommends three simple things for good heart health:
· Eat smart: Ensure your diet contains enough fruits and veggies and less fats.
· Be well: Get enough sleep and manage stress.
· Move more: Even small changes like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, or parking at the back of the parking lot instead of near the front, add up over time.
It’s also recommended that you become trained in CPR and AED use. CPR can mean the difference between life and death in emergency situations. REMSA offers CPR classes to the community year-round. In fact, REMSA trains one person in CPR every 28 minutes! You can register for REMSA’s CPR classes at remsaeducation.com. Use promo code heart during the month of February and receive a $5 discount.
