Former Reno City Manager Andrew Clinger has been hired by the Nevada System of Higher Education. He will be making $205,000 annually and was selected after the system conducted a national search for a new chief fiscal officer.
“Andrew has vast experience working on state budgets for three different Nevada governors, including as a state budget director and most recently as a senior adviser to Gov. Sandoval,” said system spokesperson Francis McCabe. “He understands the intricacies of the legislative process and dealing with fiscal challenges.”
Clinger remains embroiled in litigation and claims of harassment and retaliation during his tenure as city manager. After his separation from the city, he was hired by Governor Sandoval.
“NSHE thoroughly reviewed Andrew’s background and (we) are confident he was the right choice to be NSHE’s next chief financial officer,” McCabe added.
