PRESS RELEASE
The Chamber of Commerce, Reno-Sparks-Northern Nevada, named Ann Silver as new Chief Executive Officer, replacing former CEO Len Stevens who retired after 14 years of service. Silver brings 10 years of national and regional management experience and seven years in human resources. Her official role begins Dec. 7.

“I am excited for us to work closely together as we create a new Reno, Sparks and Northern Nevada that attracts, retains, and creates a quality of life for all of our community members,” said Danny DeLaRosa, chair of The Chamber 2016 executive board officers and part of the CEO search committee.

Silver plans to revitalize The Chamber’s brand by offering relevant, educational programming for members, including courses in leadership, information technology, and human resources. She plans to increase membership by reaching out to women-owned, minority-owned, and veteran-owned businesses, and by connecting niche industries through events and sponsorships.

“The Chamber is a fantastic resource for entrepreneurs, community leaders, students, and tourists,” said Silver. “In Reno’s diverse and growing business environment, it’s a great honor to plug into the heart of our community and position The Chamber as a place of relevance, inspiration, and opportunity for all.”

Silver earned her Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University, and her Doctorate of Law from The Law School at University of Notre Dame. Her background in human resources includes the Compass Group, a global food and restaurant business in New York City; the Carson City Consolidated Municipality; and the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony. She was the general manager of Radio City Music Hall in New York City, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada, and executive director of JOIN, Inc., a non-profit in Nevada. She enters The Chamber after serving as an HR consultant to Sierra Nevada College.

“The Chamber is one of the most rewarding and human-centric careers in the world,” said Stevens. “I am very pleased to pass the torch to such a lovely, energetic person with a heart for service.”
