Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck by Car, Man Arrested for DUI

Scott MillerA pedestrian is dead and a man is behind bars today after being arrested for DUI in a collision with the pedestrian.

The Reno Police Department said that at about 11:30 pm yesterday the pedestrian was trying to cross McCarran Boulevard near Sutro when the pedestrian was hit by a vehicle driven by 47-year-old Scott Miller of Reno.

“The pedestrian was in an area that was extremely dark,” RPD said in a statement. “When officers arrived they immediately identified that the pedestrian had life threatening injuries and begun providing CPR. When REMSA arrived they pronounced him deceased.”

Miller was arrested for DUI and an outstanding warrant. The pedestrian will be identified pending notification of next of kin.

RPD said that it would like to remind pedestrians to wear bright clothing and use crosswalks when walking at night.
