Update August 9, 2016 per the Reno Police Department:

The driver of the striking vehicle has been identified as Christopher Gonzalez, a 47 year old New Mexico resident, temporarily living here because of employment.
Investigators are waiting for the toxicology report and the investigation is on-going.

A head-in collision on August 5 has resulted in the death of a mother and her unborn child.

The accident occurred on Somersett Parkway. The drivers of both vehicles were found unconscious and both with life-threatening injuries.

“Officers and medical personnel immediately recognized that the driver of the struck vehicle was pregnant,” said RPD. “She was transported to Renown where staff attempted to save her and the baby’s life but were unable to. The driver of the vehicle, which was traveling the wrong direction, was transported and died shortly after arriving at the hospital.”

The victim was identified as 27-year-old Alisa Hardy-Orton. It is not clear, according to police, if alcohol or drugs are a factor in the collision.

The identity of the other driver is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
