Chief Garcia at ManzanitaThe National Association of Campus Safety Administrators (NASCA) has chose University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) Police Chief Adam Garcia as its police director of the year.

Howard Cook, chief of police at Columbia College and NASCA executive director, said an awards committee considered Garcia’s length of service and commitment to the professionalism of UNR’s police force.

“Chief Garcia is clearly a giver,” Cook said. “A giver of his time, his talent and his knowledge. It is because of this that the National Association of Campus Safety Administrators Awards Committee selected him as the Director of the Year.”

Since 2001, Garcia has expanded the size and diversity of UNR’s police services. He serves on the Nevada Homeland Security Commission and serves as an adjunct faculty member to the Nevada System of Higher Education.

“This honor is a testament to the professionalism and hard work of all of the men and women of the University Police Services,” Garcia said.
