The Nevada Museum of Art announced Friday that it received a $1.5 million endowment from its trustee, John Deane.

The contribution will go to fund the museum’s senior curator and deputy director position held by Ann Wolfe. Her position is now referred to as the Andrea and John C. Deane Family Senior Curator and Deputy Director.

“A strategic priority of the Nevada Museum of Art is to endow certain leadership positions. In doing so, we grow our overall endowment and strengthen the institution’s financial foundation,” said Nevada Museum of Art Executive Director and CEO David Walker. “We are eternally grateful to Trustee John Deane and his wife for their confidence in the Nevada Museum of Art. Their extraordinary commitment will help to ensure that our Museum remains vital well into the future.”

Deane and his wife Andrea have lived most of their adult lives in northern Nevada. Deane co-founded The Alta Group and serves as its CEO. He served as the museum’s board president and has been involved with the Nevada Museum of Art since the 1970s.

“The Nevada Museum of Art gives so much to the community,” Deane said. “Our family felt it incredibly important to support the institution in a meaningful way, one that helps meet the Museum’s basic needs, guaranteeing ongoing successful growth.”
