You never know when it’s going to burn around here. The Washoe Drive Fire occurred in the middle of winter, and state officials are reminding residents  to create emergency plans in case of a wildfire.

The Nevada Division of Forestry (NDF) and University of Nevada Cooperative Extension are promoting America’s PrepareAthon, “a national, grassroots campaign for action to increase individual and community preparedness and resilience through hazard-specific drills, group discussions, and exercises.”

“We are encouraging all Nevadans to prepare and practice a family emergency evacuation plan,” said NDF’s Ryan Shane. “For much of Nevada, one of the most likely disasters is wildfire.”
