The Latino Student Advisory Board is holding a peaceful and silent demonstration on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm at the Hilliard Plaza on the UNR campus.

There will be signs reading “I Am Deportable,” the students said.

A letter will be available for people to sign and write a message for Laxalt, which will be delivered to him afterwards.

On January 23, 2015, Nevada joined a lawsuit claiming the unconstitutionality of President Obama’s executive actions regarding immigration.

President Obama’s efforts to extend Deferred Action to Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA) as well as to expand the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program have tried to find a solution for many undocumented families and children, allowing them to remain together, according to the students.

“Thanks to President Obama, more individuals will also have the opportunity to come out of the shadows, and be able contribute to the economy of the country.”
