This is a permanent art installation on the side of the Circus Circus Reno building. The murals (seven in total from seven different artists) will face Virginia Street in the heart of the Arch District in downtown Reno.

2014 was the inaugural year of the 24-Hour Mural Marathon, which featured seven different artists. Rex “Killbuck” Norman won the first place and prize money for his mural “The Strongman.” The selection committee will be accepting submissions to be one of the competitors for the event due no later than April 16, 2015 by midnight.

The competitors will have 24 hours to paint an original mural in panel 19’7” feet wide by 14 feet high. The artists will compete for prize money: $2,000 to the first place winner, $1,000 to the second place winner and $500 to the third place winner.

Each artist will also receive a $750 stipend to pay for paint and materials in order to complete the murals. The competition will begin at 10 a.m. on July 10 and go through the night, ending at 10 a.m. July 11th. The winners will be selected by a separate panel of judges to be determined.

Virginia Street will be closed for the event from 5th to 6th street to accommodate the artists. Circus Circus Reno will also have music, food and art vendors. This event is not just a competition but a show for audiences of all ages. People will not only be allowed, but invited to watch the art created right in front of their eyes.
