Sundance Books and Music hosts a variety of authors each month: fiction, nonfiction, and children’s books. Late February is booked with several well-known children’s authors, each reading from and promoting their newest releases.
Jill Esbaum is the author of many fiction and nonfiction children’s books. Her latest titles include I am Cow, Hear me Moo!, I Hatched!, and Tom’s Tweet. She is a frequent school visitor and conference speaker. She teaches writing for children at the University of Iowa Summer Writing Festival and the Whispering Woods Picture Book Writing Retreat. She lives with her husband on a farm near Davenport, Iowa.
About I am Cow, Hear me Moo!
Nadine can talk a blue streak, and one day she tells a real whopper: she isn’t afraid of anything—no siree! Then her friends call her bluff, and Nadine must enter. . .The Deep. Dark. Woods. Only the woods aren’t so scary after all, until the sun sets, that is, and Nadine can’t find her friends. What is this boastful bovine to do? Run around in blind terror? Plummet off a cliff? Crash into a stream? Check, check, and check. But is all lost? Doubtful. After all, she is cow, hear her MOOOOOOOOO!
Esbaum will be doing story time and a book signing on Thursday, February 26 at 5 p.m.
Patricia Newman writes fiction and nonfiction books and magazine articles for children, including Plastic, Ahoy! Investigating the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, a Junior Library Guild Selection and NSTA-recommended book; Jingle the Brass, a Junior Library Guild Selection and a Smithsonian-recommended book; and Nugget on the Flight Deck, a California Reading Association Eureka! Silver Honor Book for Nonfiction. She is a frequent speaker at schools and libraries.
About Plastic, Ahoy! Investigating the Great Pacific Garbage Patch
Plastic: it’s used to make everything from drink bottles and bags to toys and toothbrushes. But what happens when it ends up where it doesn’t belong—like in the Pacific Ocean? How does it affect ocean life? Is it dangerous? And exactly how much is out there? Plastic, Ahoy! Investigating the Great Pacific Garbage Patch has the answers. Join Patricia Newman for readings, skits, demonstrations, and science activities that drive home the plastic problem—and what we can do about it.
Newman will be hosting a family science night and book signing on Friday, February 27 at 6:30 p.m.
Both events will be held at Sundance Books and Music, 121 California Avenue. 775-786-1188.
