AGC award winners announced

Don Mackey and Nick Rossi were honored during the Nevada Chapter Associated General Contractors’ 48th SIR Awards Banquet held at the Peppermill Resort Hotel in Reno. An acronym for the AGC motto, “Skill, Integrity and Responsibility,” the SIR Award is given to honor the men, women and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to Nevada, our quality of life and the construction industry. Originating with the Nevada Chapter in 1967, the SIR Award was adopted by AGC chapters nationwide, including the national office in Washington, D.C.

Don Mackey is one of the architect partners in Reno’s construction industry and was vital to the growth of Sparks into Wingfield Springs and Spanish Springs. Mackey established his eponymous firm in 1981, providing design services to apartments, residential retirement centers, commercial office buildings, and more. Nick Rossi is considered a game-changer for his tireless work with Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada and Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows. He founded LP Insurance and is a leading risk manager and insurance provider, helping with strategic direction for construction and construction-related companies.

CORE Construction Services of Nevada and J&J Mechanical, Inc. were named top general and sub-contractor for 2014 by members of the Nevada Chapter of the Associated General Contractors, representing Northern Nevada’s leading construction companies and associated businesses.

CORE Construction Services of Nevada. has been in business for 70 years, providing construction services for large scale projects, such as offices and schools. Most recently, they’ve been working on the William N. Pennington Student Achievement Center at the University of Nevada, Reno and the Lander County Courthouse. J & J Mechanical, Inc of Sparks, NV has been in business for 25 years and specializes in large plumbing projects throughout Reno and Sparks.
