Urban Roots is promoting a national day of giving to follow Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday.

The event, called “Giving Tuesday,” is a national movement to promote philanthropy and to kick off the season of giving.

Urban Roots is launching a  “We Grow Farmers” campaign to raise funds for food education in our community. Donations can be made online or at a  meet and greet at the grand opening of Mark Estee’s Reno Provisions Tuesday.

The Giving Tuesday campaign will coincide with the community event at 100 N. Sierra Street in Reno.

Estee’s  combined restaurant-bar-marketplace will be the site of the community unveiling Tuesday night. The evening will be the first peek at the renovated building with a taste of some of the best artisanal foods Reno has to offer. Tickets are $20 and all proceeds from the event will be split between Urban Roots and the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.

The event and the “We Grow Farmers” Giving Tuesday campaign makes it a great day to support community in all areas of healthy food and local farm education.
