Yesterday, July 8, began the demolition of the 1960’s Virginia lake apartments in preparation for a new housing project called Edgewater, a new 336-unit condo/townhouse subdivision with 48 townhouses for sale.
The Edgewater complex will include a 2,500 square foot clubhouse, complete with pool, workout center and business office. The fully enclosed gated community will also feature advanced security cameras and improved lighting. The Cochoran ditch that surrounds the property will be placed underground to allow for additional landscaping.
The 10-acre project, located on Eastshore Drive and Lymbery Street, is part of the Silverwing Development project. The project is a renovation plan for the Virginia lake community, approved by the Reno city council in 2004.
“…This more closely aligns with the vision of Virginia lake that was set forth by the Council,” said Fred Turner, community development director for the city.
In addition to the housing complex, a lake-wide circulation system will be installed to combat the stagnant water and prevalent algae growth. Occupancies for the new housing complex are planned for March of 2015.
