MEMORIAL DAY PARADE NEWS RELEASE VIRGINIA CITY — Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend in historic Virginia City, Nevada with the annual Celebration of Heroes Parade Saturday, May 24 at noon. Taking place down C Street, the parade honors the memory of those who gave their lives for this country.
The grand marshal for this year’s Celebration of Heroes Parade is Richard Beaudette of Carson City, who served in both World War II and the Korean War. Beaudette was drafted into the Army in 1942 and served in Germany. After the tour of duty, Beaudette entered the Army Reserve. Four and a half years later he was called back to active duty in Korea where he soon achieved the rank of Captain.
Beaudette was discharged in 1962 after more than 15 years of service. He has been a resident in Carson City for the past 50 years.
