Are you in a ‘wine rut’? The Virginia City Wine Tour, offered monthly, may be the cure.

Are you in a wine rut? Even worse, are you in a wine rut and don’t realize it? Symptoms of a wine rut are:

  • finding yourself ordering only the house wine because it is cheap;
  • not stepping out of a wine comfort zone;
  • sticking with the tried and true.

If that sounds like you, a Virginia City Wine Tour is the cure. Take to the hills, the Virginia Range, and explore the history and shops rooted in Comstock lore dating back to the late 1800s while sampling “wines of the west” along the way.

The Virginia City Wine Tour runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the first Saturday of the month through Aug. 2. Tickets bought in advance cost $15, or $20 on the day of the event, and include access to 18 merchants, a commemorative stemless wine glass and a map.

Participating merchants include:

  • Delta Gift Shop
  • Café Del Rio
  • Comstock Creamery & Firehouse BBQ
  • Comstock Corner Cafe
  • Core at Cider Factory
  • Marshall Mint
  • Mustang Ranch Steakhouse & Hunters Lounge
  • Old Red Garter
  • Palace Restaurant
  • Pioneer Emporium
  • Ponderosa Saloon
  • Rainbow Wooden Art
  • Red Dog Saloon & Pizza Parlor
  • Red’s Old Fashioned Candies
  • Southwest Designs
  • Virginia Hill Mercantile
  • Virginia City Visitors Center
  • Washoe Club Haunted Museum

Tickets are available online at VisitVirginiaCityNV.com or at the Virginia City Visitors Center, 86 S. C St., on the day of the event.

The Virginia City Wine Tour Series is made possible in part by the following sponsors: Virginia City’s Mustang Ranch Steakhouse, the Bucket of Blood Saloon, Camelot Party Rentals, Edible Reno-Tahoe Magazine, Coors Light and Reno Media Group.
